deux-coeurs asked: I need help with the whole juicing thing. I've been vegan for a while and I make green smoothies daily, but I just can't get over the taste of juicing instead of blending (especially with celery, no clue why). Any insight?

What kind of vegetables are you juicing?

Carrots are great juicing veggies because they are sweet enough that, on their own, the juice still tastes delicious. A great juice combo to start off with is carrots, apples, and raw ginger. Yum!

I think the trick with juicing green vegetables is to juice multiple veggies together. Plain kale juice would probably not taste that very good, but kale mixed with romain lettuce, spinach, lemon, apples, celery, and ginger tastes delicious!

The above is what goes into my green juice, give or take whatever veggies I have on hand. The apple, lemon, and ginger, really make the juice. I normally use 1, but try adding a couple of them to your green juice until you get used to the taste. Juicing an entire lemon and apple together with greens make it taste like lemonade! Ginger is great because it gives it a little kick and helps mask the flavour of the greens.

You could also add stevia to sweeten it a bit. I have done that before if the juice I make tastes too bitter or like straight up dirt [rainbow chard will do that!].

You are not supposed to, but try adding ice. I usually do! It is easiest to drink cold green juice than room temp!

These are the things I would really like to eat.

-A cupcake. Please. Can I just have one cupcake? I’ll even omit the sugar!
-Beans. Black beans, garbanzo beans, navy beans…anything!
-Hummus. Oh what I would give to be eaten jalapeƱo cilantro hummus right now.
-Buffalo Tempeh. More specifically the buffalo tempeh salad from The Wild Cow.
-Peanut Butter. A spoonful or two never hurt anyone! [I lie. This is why I’m fat]
-Roasted Brussels Sprouts. Yuuuuum.

Good Morning Green Juice!

Oh my dear green juice, how I have missed you.

When I was a good vegan, I used to wake up every morning, drink my green juice and then workout. Today I had my first taste of green juice in months [partly because I have been making green smoothies with my new VITAMIX] and I must say I was missing out.

Enzymes and chlorophyll.

Yum.

My new detox journey requires me to have green juice every morning and sometimes for a snack throughout the day.

I used:
-1 Lemon
-thumbprint size of fresh ginger
-almost one head of romaine
-4 celery stalks
-5 pieces of kale
-1 fuji apple

Exquisite.

Now I am supposed to eat as much fruit as I want for breakfast.
AS MUCH AS I WANT?
